This looks to be a first-generation Ford F-1 truck. I’m in love with its simplicity, its design, and the purpose that it’s been fulfilling for almost a century now. It’s late-40′s or early 50′s Ford truck from the days of flathead engines (a flathead is simply an engine where the valves and combustion chamber are a part of the block, not the head). This particular model came with a v8 engine from the factory. It’s no performance monster, with floppy leaf springs and a live rear axle, but it does its job perfectly.
It’s living out its days as a parts grabber, and always has the bed filled with alternators, starters, engines, and transmissions. It performs its function perfectly, starting any time it’s asked and chugging along through any weather, any time. I don’t know if I’d trust it on the freeway out here, but around town it’s hard to beat.
When I was looking at houses, this truck was one of the big factors that caused me to moving in to this particular neighborhood. There were a few other vehicles on the street that indicated that this was a car lover’s area, but this truck really got me excited. Its simplicity and purity of function without any kind of flashiness make it beautiful.
